Arthur Khachatryan Files Complaint with the Prosecutor's Office

Arthur Khachatryan, a member of the Armenian National Assembly from the 'Armenia' faction, has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor's Office regarding a crime. Khachatryan announced this on his Facebook page.

It is noteworthy that on April 27, a scuffle broke out between a group of police officers and citizens conducting a protest on the Yerevan-Sevan highway near Hrazdan, who had blocked the road. Khachatryan emphasizes that the police used violence against him without any legal justification, escalating and provoking the tense situation.

“They unlawfully deprived me of my freedom and transported me to the Hrazdan police department in Kotayk province, escorted by four police officers. The one giving orders and inciting the scuffle was Ruben Davtyan, head of the Kotayk regional department of the Armenian police. I am confident that Davtyan was fully aware that I am a member of the National Assembly. By the way, he was in civilian clothes and did not identify himself,” Khachatryan wrote.

On the way, he repeatedly stated that he is a member of the Parliament and that they have no right to detain him. At the police station, he was told that he was not under detention.

Khachatryan described the incident on the Yerevan-Sevan road as the most blatant manifestation of police misconduct. He expressed hope that the crime will not go unpunished.
