Police Use of Force Was Excessive, Human Rights Defender

Footage released by the media clearly shows that the police's use of physical force against participants of a peaceful gathering organized by the 'Civil Contract' party today at the Tumanyan-Mashtots intersection was highly disproportionate. Human rights defender Ruben Melikyan stated this on his Facebook page.

“It is evident that certain units of the law enforcement agency have stepped outside the realm of legal oversight and have turned into an unpunished tool for political revenge,” he wrote.
