Israel and Egypt Hold Secret Talks on Possible Operation in Rafah
Israeli intelligence and military officials participated in secret consultations with their Egyptian counterparts on Wednesday regarding a potential Israeli strike on Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip, Axios reports citing sources.
It has been noted that Israeli intelligence and military officials met in Cairo on Wednesday with the head of Egyptian intelligence and other key officials to discuss the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) possible action in Rafah, as informed by three senior Israeli officials to Axios.
This marks the second visit to Egypt since October 7, 2023, by the head of the Israeli Security Agency, Ronen Bar, and the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Herzi Halevi, to discuss the proposed operation in Rafah. Bar and Halevi met with the head of Egyptian intelligence, Abbas Karam, and Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Osama Askar, Axios elaborates.
