Details on Attempted Murder Due to Failing to Yield on the Road; Young Man Arrested

On April 2, criminal investigators from Vagharsapat acted on operational data and detained a 30-year-old man wanted for attempted murder and illegal possession of firearms since November 22 of last year. He was found on a rural road near the village of Ranchpar in the Ararat region.

According to the police, despite a gunshot wound, the victim had not sought medical assistance, and the information regarding the incident had also been received through operational means by the Vagharsapat police two days after the event, on November 8.

According to the information, on November 6 around 7 PM, two brothers from the village of Jrarat in the Armavir region had an altercation with two young men from the village of Apaga. During the dispute, one of the brothers fired several shots from a pistol towards an Opel car and bystanders, resulting in one participant in the argument sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg.

While processing this operational information, the Vagharsapat criminal investigators discovered that the incident near Apaga village on November 6 had a backstory. The day before, around 4 PM, the 30-year-old driver of a Ford vehicle and his peer had argued with a 53-year-old driver of a Mercedes for not yielding on the road. Insults were exchanged, and there were physical confrontations. The driver’s wife and sister were also present during the incident.

Following the altercation, the 53-year-old man informed his sons about the dispute, and they had pre-arranged to go the next day for clarification. During this clarification, the 30-year-old brother fired several shots from a pistol.

On November 15, public persecution was initiated against the 30-year-old man for attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons, and he was ordered to be detained. A wanted notice was issued on November 22. On April 2, he was transferred from the Vagharsapat investigative department to a correctional facility.

Measures are being taken to discover the instrument of the crime. Other circumstances of the case are being clarified during the preliminary investigation.
