A Group of Patrol Officers Created Fake Reports

As a result of the cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Internal Security and Anti-Corruption Department and the monitoring division of the Patrol Service of the Police, an internal investigation has revealed that a group of officers from the Patrol Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, with the aim of achieving high performance metrics, created a significant number of fake administrative violation reports.

Between November 2023 and January 2024, while performing patrol duties, these officers did not stop vehicles driven by individuals violating traffic rules or approached them. During their breaks, they turned off or set aside their individual recording devices or, after formally stopping drivers allegedly violating traffic rules, they proceeded to file these numerous bogus reports against a number of citizens.

According to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, based on the materials of the internal investigation, a criminal case was initiated on February 20 at the Anti-Corruption Committee under Article 445 (Official Forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
