VIDEO: 'We Are Planning Another Major Investment,' Avinyan

Yerevan is set to welcome an additional 200 new buses this year, with 30 already in the city and 170 expected by mid-year. This was stated by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a press briefing with journalists at the National Assembly on January 30.

“We are planning another major investment, which involves 250 electric buses that are 18 meters long. We are addressing the quantity issue, and we are bringing this to completion. We have discussed a unified ticketing system, which will fully begin to operate this year,” he said.

Regarding the project by Green Rock Management Group for the Circular Park, Avinyan responded: “The founder of Green Rock Management Group asked what they could do for the city, and we suggested if they could support the renovation of a sports school. They agreed and made a donation of 300 million drams. We had a program related to the restoration of public parks, and they proposed a program along those lines. This is the only project that the Yerevan municipality has received where the business component has been minimized. Corruption involves certain privileged conditions; please tell me what privileges they are receiving with this project.”
