VIDEO: Putin Outlines Conditions for Ending War
During the first 30 minutes of an interview with Tucker Carlson, Vladimir Putin provides a historical overview tracing back from the 9th century to World War II, the 21st century, the Ukrainian revolution, NATO expansion, and the events leading to Russia's military operations in Ukraine.
Putin states that the war could end if the U.S. and its Western partners cease sending weapons to Kyiv. Throughout the interview, he repeatedly emphasizes that "Russia did not start the war in Ukraine, but is trying to end it." Additionally, the Kremlin leader asserts that he has no interest in extending military operations to other countries, particularly Poland and Latvia.
When asked if he envisions a scenario where Russian troops would be sent to NATO-member Poland, Putin replies, "Only in one case: if Poland attacks Russia."
The Russian president conveys that Moscow has not yet achieved its objectives in Ukraine, including one of the aims of denazification. In response to Carlson's question about how he intends to eradicate that culture and ideology in a country he does not control, Putin claims it can be done "through a negotiation process."
Regarding negotiations to end military operations in Ukraine, the Russian president mentions that he is ready for dialogue and negotiation; however, Ukraine refuses to engage. Putin stresses that the continuation of the conflict does not serve the U.S. interests, which has provided significant financial support to Ukraine over the last two years, considering the country's national debt of $33 trillion, border tensions, and migration issues.
“Don’t you have anything else to do? Wouldn’t it be better to reach an agreement with Russia? To come to an understanding about the situation at hand today, recognizing that Russia will fight for its interests until the end, and to return to reason, start respecting our country and its interests, and find solutions. I believe that is much smarter and more reasonable,” Putin concludes.
