State Revenue Committee Eases Customs Communication for Package Receivers
The State Revenue Committee of Armenia is simplifying customs communication for citizens receiving parcels and packages. During a press conference, Deputy Chairman of the SRC Karen Tamazyan announced that citizens receiving packages via postal or other carriers will no longer be required to visit customs offices if their delivery is subject to customs control.
“Previously, citizens who received packages and needed customs oversight were informed by the carrier that the item was being held at the 'Cargo' freight complex and that they must approach the relevant customs department to clarify details and release the package. We have now transitioned this process entirely to an electronic platform, which is currently in a testing phase. We can say that in the aforementioned cases, visiting customs will no longer be necessary,” stated Tamazyan.
The Deputy Chairman also noted that once the package is in the freight complex, citizens will receive notifications regarding specific phone numbers and email addresses through which they can contact customs to clarify their issues. Thus, communication will take place via email or through an integrated centralized call system, after which the package will be released to the carrier for citizens to receive.
According to Karen Tamazyan, the system is already operational and has received positive feedback from citizens. Currently, some technical adjustments are being made to ensure a smoother process.
