Alcohol Poisonings Recorded Among Children Aged 10-15 During Holiday Period

Despite numerous warnings and advice from experts on how to prevent injuries and various poisonings during the holiday season, incidents of both poisoning and injuries from explosives, fireworks, and blasts have already been reported during these festive days. This was noted by Armen Muradyan, the Rector of Yerevan State Medical University, on his Facebook page.

“Various citizens from different age groups have sought medical assistance at university hospital complexes for various complaints. In particular, most of the injuries reported by patients admitted to ‘Heratsi’ Hospital Number 1 were caused by explosives, affecting five citizens, two of whom required amputation of fingers on their left hand, while another two patients suffered lacerations, and one had a finger injury,” he stated.

On December 31, ‘Muratsan’ hospital reported that one citizen had been injured due to fireworks. During the holiday period, there have been 18 recorded cases of poisoning, including 5 from carbon monoxide, 5 from chemical poisoning, and 8 from alcohol poisoning. Notably, alcohol poisonings have been registered among minors aged 10-15, specifically one 10-year-old, two 16-year-olds, and three 15-year-olds,” he added.

Armen Muradyan concluded his post by reminding people, “Dear compatriots, we once again remind you that knowledge of and strict adherence to safety regulations will reduce the number of emergency incidents and help avoid unwanted, often tragic, consequences. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones.”
