Drafted Conscription Soldier's Heart Stopped: ArmLur
Relatives of 20-year-old Erik Harutyunyan, who was set to begin mandatory military service, contacted the editorial office of ArmLur.am to report a tragic incident. They stated, "Erik has been deferred from military service for the past three years due to health issues. At the end of 2023, numerous health problems were identified through the referral issued by the number 3 military commissariat, specifically: second-degree arterial hypertension, enlargement of the liver and thyroid gland, and heart stoppage recorded twice for a few milliseconds by a Holter monitor, among many other cardiovascular issues. His blood pressure fluctuated between 150 and 200, as documented in medical examinations. During the final military commission meeting, when it should have been determined whether he was fit for service, the staff of the number 3 military commissariat disregarded Erik Harutyunyan's examination results. With his numbers, he should have been immediately exempted from service and sent for treatment. Instead, they placed him in inpatient isolation under strict supervision for further examination at hospital number 8 in Yerevan." It is reported that after going through that harshly organized examination, Erik Harutyunyan died of a heart attack at 3:00 AM on January 6th.
Auroranews contacted the Ministry of Defense, where they stated that details of the incident are being clarified, and the ministry will issue a clarification.
