"I Ask to Be Released": Baku Court Holds Hearing on Vagif Khachatryan's Case
The Baku court held a hearing today regarding the appeal of the decision in the case of Vagif Khachatryan. Khachatryan's lawyer, Radmila Abilova, stated that her client disagrees with the Baku Military Court's sentence of 15 years in prison and has requested Khachatryan's acquittal. Khachatryan asserted that he does not acknowledge any guilt.
"I want to say that I did not participate in those battles; I am innocent. I was not there and did not see anyone. I was apprehended in the Lachin corridor. I ask to be released," he stated.
The prosecution urged the court to dismiss the appeal without satisfaction. The next court session is scheduled for January 15.
It is worth noting that this summer, Khachatryan was abducted from the Lachin corridor and subsequently sentenced to 15 years in prison on false charges in Baku on November 7, where he has consistently maintained his innocence in all sessions.
