Details of Child Abuse Incident in Armavir: 'We Said to Do It in a Way That the Child's Name Doesn’t Come Out'
A child abuse incident has occurred in Armavir. Albert Garibyan, a 48-year-old resident of Armavir, took advantage of 12-year-old Anahit’s (name changed) vulnerable situation to commit sexual acts against the minor. This was reported by the "Haykakan Zhamanak" newspaper.
The paper has contacted the minor's mother and grandmother. Anahit's mother stated that Albert Garibyan had been her boyfriend and partner for about a year. She learned of the incident from her friend: 'My friend gave me a hint, that’s how I found out.'
'The child was scared to tell me; she told my friend instead. She said that Albert was buying her candy, giving her money, and kissing her,' recounted the minor’s mother.
Hasmik, who is the mother of six children, insists that she did not notice any inappropriate behavior from Albert towards her underage daughter. According to her, the man was attentive and caring towards all six children, provided for the household, and occasionally gave them money.
After the incident, Hasmik did not send her daughter to school for about a month, attempting to conceal everything from everyone. 'I informed the principal that she hadn’t attended classes for over a month and hadn’t interacted with anyone. I didn’t want her to go to class; I was worried she might tell her friend, and there would be a huge uproar. It would lead to something worse. I didn’t want people to know. My brother works in the system, he doesn’t know about all this,' she said.
Albert told the investigator that the minor’s grandmother had once seen him in the room with Anahit and became angry, but took no action. Anahit's grandmother, Mrs. Gayane, insisted otherwise, stating that if she had seen anything, she would have killed him.
'My daughter brought Albert home and said he was her friend. After the incident, she cut off contact with him. We could not have imagined that he could do something like this. He entered and left our house as my daughter's friend. We didn’t understand anything; she didn’t show any signs,' recounted Anahit's grandmother.
Albert’s brother approached the girl’s family, asking them to withdraw their complaint, but they did not agree, wanting him to be punished to the fullest extent. 'We said, under no circumstances. I told my brother: he grabbed the child and touched her, let him sit down and face the consequences of his actions. He may have touched the child but did not cause any harm.'
'I don’t know how the police found out; we said to handle it so that the child’s name wouldn’t come out. Let’s do it internally,' he noted.
