We take the children, show them the mountain, and say this is where Artashat was the capital: Pashinyan

The visible, preserved part of the historical capital Artashat is located beyond the barbed wire. Months ago, I visited and questioned why Armenian tourists, citizens, and schoolchildren do not have access to our historical capital. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a government meeting.

“In the areas where we take our children for excursions as the historical capital of Artashat, there is essentially nothing there. We show them the mountain and say, ‘children, this is Artashat, one of the seven hills.’ But beyond the barbed wire, there are many well-preserved buildings. Recently, I instructed the National Security Service and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport to ensure access, because it is visible from the walls that we also have preservation issues there. When we speak of a capital, we must show what is visible, especially since there is a lot that is both visible and preserved,” he said.
