New Criminal Group Involved in Fake Real Estate Transactions in Yerevan: 'Zhoghovurd'

According to information received, law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into cases of valuable apartments being sold in the Kentron administrative district using fake documents, with the perpetrators stealing money from buyers. This was reported by the 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper.

'In particular, it has been found that mostly long-uninhabited apartments fall victim to this scheme. The criminals, upon learning that these apartments have been closed for years and the owners are not in the country, forge fake powers of attorney, which facilitate the transactions. They receive money from the buyers and disappear, leaving behind fake documents and closed doors.'

Furthermore, it is particularly alarming that law enforcement has been unable to uncover this criminal group. But this is not the end; within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated, the son of General Genadi Tavaratsyan, the former head of the Strategic Planning Department of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, who was also involved in these transactions, has been interrogated,' the newspaper reported.
