There Can Be No Peace While Azerbaijani Forces Are in Our Territory: Armen Khachatryan

Armen Khachatryan, a member of the National Assembly from the ruling Civil Contract faction and the deputy chairman of the Defense and Security Committee, stated today during a press conference that Azerbaijan must first accept the fundamental provisions and principles of the peace agreement, after which border demarcation works will commence.

"Currently, work is underway on technical issues, the analysis of maps and topographic data, but the entire process will yield results and proceed extensively only if Azerbaijan accepts the fundamental provisions of the peace agreement, at least the principles," he noted.

According to Khachatryan, there can be no peace while Azerbaijani troops are in Armenian territory. "All issues must be resolved first and foremost after withdrawing from the occupied territories. Secondly, if it is possible to achieve peace, the objective of mutually withdrawing from the border is to ensure that armed forces have as little interaction with each other as possible, and to have border protection forces in those areas. But that does not mean that in places where they have occupied our territories, we should also withdraw from those areas; they must withdraw as well," emphasized the Civil Contract representative.
