The Russian side has acknowledged that violations have occurred. This was stated by Robert Khachatryan, the Minister of High-Tech Industry of Armenia, during a press briefing with journalists in the National Assembly, addressing the events surrounding Russian television channels in Armenia and the negotiations with the Russian side.

He emphasized that in the meeting with the Russian side, they discussed the violations present in the Russian television channels broadcasted through the public multiplex.

“There was no need to present evidence; we simply stated that violations had taken place, let’s not discuss the details, and it was accepted that violations occurred,” he noted.

The minister added that, as a result of consultations, a document was signed, which records all of this.

According to Khachatryan, the issue of suspending the broadcast of Russian television channels was not discussed, as it would be inappropriate.

It should be noted that on December 14, 2023, bilateral consultations took place in Yerevan between the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation regarding the adherence to the provisions of the agreement on cooperation in the field of mass communications signed between the governments of Armenia and Russia. During the consultations, the Armenian side pointed out that the RA Television and Radio Commission had recorded violations of Article 5 of the Agreement. The Russian side acknowledged this fact, resulting in a joint statement being signed.
