VIDEO: 'I Have No Explanation for the Increase and Lack of Decrease in Fuel Prices,' Manvel Badalyan

The Parliament is discussing the election of a member to the Competition Protection Commission. The 'Honorary' and 'Armenia' factions of the National Assembly have proposed the candidacy of Manvel Badalyan for this position. Addressing him, opposition faction member Tadevos Avetisyan referred to the markets for gasoline, diesel fuel, and liquefied gas. 'When we witness a sharp increase, they explain it by external factors - prices have risen abroad, and they have risen here as well. But when prices fall abroad, they say, well, you know, they have a batch that they still need to sell. This commission is currently functioning inconsistently and ineffectively,' the deputy said.

The candidate responded that, as a driver, he experiences the issues in the sector every day. 'When there is a fluctuation in global prices, companies involved in the sale of gasoline and diesel in Armenia take notice within 5 minutes. Unfortunately, when it comes to decreases, it takes a long time to reflect that. Frankly, I have no explanation; professionally, it is not understandable; it shouldn't be this way,' said Badalyan.
