_VIDEO: "We Hope the Azerbaijani Side Will Become More Constructive," Says Alen Simonian_
Armenia is hopeful that Azerbaijan will become more constructive, leading to tangible peace. This statement was made today by the President of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonian, during a conversation with reporters, regarding U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken's remarks.
“Armenia has not refused any meeting with Azerbaijan; in fact, the Azerbaijani side has rejected at least three recent invitations. We hope that the Azerbaijani side will become more constructive and, apart from statements about wanting peace and acknowledging the territorial integrity of Armenia, they will also be able to actually do something practical that will lead to real, tangible peace,” he said.
Earlier, U.S. Secretary of State's Assistant for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O'Brien, stated that Secretary Blinken hopes to host the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, in Washington soon to conduct peace negotiations.
