Peskov on Putin's Candidacy in Presidential Elections
The press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, hopes that Vladimir Putin will run for a new term in the presidential elections and is confident in his victory. This information was reported by TASS.
According to the Kremlin representative, it is difficult to say whether the next head of state will be able to maintain everything that Putin has achieved during his time in office.
“Putin has not yet announced his intention to run. But I sincerely want to believe that he will do it. I have no doubt that he will win the elections, I have no doubt that he will be our president afterward. It will be seen from there,” Peskov stated in an interview with the MGIMO 360 student information channel.
The presidential elections in Russia are scheduled to be held on March 17, 2024. The Federation Council will make an official decision on the election date in December 2023, after which political parties must hold their electoral conventions and officially nominate their candidates. Putin has the right to run for another term but has not yet publicly discussed his decision on the matter.
