Detained Artsakh Man's Displaced Mother Denied Visit

During protests, the displaced mother of a detained Artsakh man has been denied the right to visit her son. This was reported by lawyer Arsen Babayan on his Facebook page.

“I spoke with Marat’s mother. She is already aware of everything. Marat is an 18-year-old boy from Artsakh, who is being held in detention by this government. Marat knew very well what was happening. His mother is bearing the weight of her son's detention very heavily, especially considering that she has not seen him for almost a year while being in blockade. She came to Yerevan with great anticipation to embrace her son.

The mother has asked me for a visit with her son. Unfortunately, the investigation and the court have treated Marat and his mother very harshly. Currently, all types of visits with Marat are prohibited. Thus, Marat is not just in pre-trial detention; rather, the state authorities are using his detention as punishment against him.

I have petitioned the prosecutor overseeing Marat's case to at least allow his mother to visit him. Let’s see what decision the prosecutor's office will make.”
