‘Mother Armenia’ Ready to Support Hayk Marutyan for Mayor, Statement

‘Mother Armenia’ coalition's statement regarding the appointment of the Mayor of Yerevan.

Dear compatriots,

The ‘Mother Armenia’ coalition has viewed the Yerevan city council elections as an opportunity for comprehensive regime change in Armenia and a starting point for it. In other words, we have not merely posed the question of the mayoral position; we have regarded the elections as a means to alter Armenia's internal and external policies.

We are convinced that the primary issue in ensuring our country’s security, independence, and territorial integrity is to remove Nikol Pashinyan from power and establish a new national government.

The results of the Yerevan city council elections demonstrated that the ‘Civil Contract’ holds a minority position and lacks the mandate to form a government in the capital.

Once again expressing our gratitude to the citizens who voted for ‘Mother Armenia’, we also recognize the will of those voters who expressed support for regime change by voting for other non-governmental forces.

Based on the above, we reaffirm our previously stated position: we are ready to support any mayoral candidate who declares their agreement with our stance on implementing comprehensive regime change in Armenia, in order to remove the ‘Civil Contract’ from power in Yerevan.

The ‘National Progress’ party has nominated Hayk Marutyan as the mayoral candidate, who has publicly accepted the ‘Mother Armenia’ coalition's position on the necessity of comprehensive regime change.

If a consensus is established in the non-governmental field, the ‘Mother Armenia’ coalition will contribute with its mandates to the process of removing ‘Civil Contract’ from power in Yerevan and will assist in the appointment of a new mayor from the non-governmental field by casting its vote for the candidate presented by ‘National Progress’, Hayk Marutyan.

It is worth noting that earlier, mayoral candidate Hayk Marutyan stated in his video address that he has accepted Tevanyan's proposal. Thus, the opposition will cooperate.
