Nubar Afeyan's Call in Support of Ruben Vardanyan

American-Armenian businessman and co-founder of the Aurora humanitarian initiative, Nubar Afeyan, considers the detention of Ruben Vardanyan a troubling sign and calls for the protection of the former Minister of State of Artsakh's rights. Afeyan expressed this concern on his Twitter (X) page, stating, "The reports of my long-time colleague and friend’s arrest raise serious concerns. Do not divert attention from this unfolding crisis. Preventing genocide is a global responsibility."

It is noteworthy that the Armenian government has appealed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) for the defense of former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan. The State Security Service of Azerbaijan has confirmed the information regarding Vardanyan's detention. He has been taken to the city of Baku under escort by members of the State Border Service's rapid response forces. It is reported that Vardanyan has surrendered to the relevant authorities for a decision to be made regarding him.
