Argentinian President Addresses Artsakh Blockade at G20 Summit
Today, Argentinian President Alberto Fernández addressed the blockade of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) by Azerbaijan during his speech at the first plenary session of the 18th G20 Summit in New Delhi. This was reported by Diarioarmenia.org.
“At a time when war rages in Eastern Europe and violent conflicts multiply without capturing special public attention, the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan is equally painful, creating a humanitarian crisis that punishes the Armenian people once again for a part of their territory,” stated Fernández.
Artsakh has been under blockade since December 12, 2022. On June 15, Baku prohibited the delivery of humanitarian aid through the Lachin corridor, placing the Armenian population of Artsakh on the brink of starvation.
It is worth noting that the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh, recognizing the urgent humanitarian issues caused by Azerbaijan's complete blockade, decided to allow the entry of Russian cargo via the city of Askeran into our republic. Additionally, an agreement was reached to restore humanitarian shipments through the Lachin corridor by Russian peacekeepers and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
Earlier today, Azerbaijani media reported that, according to a memorandum of cooperation between the Azerbaijani Red Crescent and the Russian Red Cross, initiated by the Russian government, the Russian Red Cross has provided one truck loaded with food and non-food items to meet the food needs of the Armenian residents of Karabakh. The truck crossed the Russian-Azerbaijani border at 14:30 local time and is expected to enter Nagorno-Karabakh via the Aghdam-Askeran road.
