2-Year-Old Girl Falls from Second Floor Window, Doctors Fight for Her Life

On September 7, an emergency incident occurred in Yerevan. Around 18:25, the Astghik Medical Center notified the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Malatya Police Department that a child had been admitted with a diagnosis of "open cranial brain injury, epidural hematoma, pulmonary contusion." As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the hospital informed the police that after providing the necessary first aid, doctors transported the child, with a very serious diagnosis, by ambulance to the Surb Astvatsamayr Medical Center, where she was urgently taken to the intensive care unit.

Malatya police have determined that the child was brought to the hospital from Sherami Street, where her 40-year-old mother had briefly stepped out of the living room, during which time the 2-year-old girl accidentally fell from the second-floor apartment window.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia's Malatya Investigation Division has initiated proceedings regarding the incident.
