Another Body Discovered in Georgia Landslide, Bringing Death Toll to 32
Rescue workers in Georgia's Racha region discovered another body on September 10, bringing the death toll from the devastating landslide that occurred in early August to 32. The landslide struck near the Mountain Shovi resort area. This was reported by Interfax.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that since the start of the search and rescue operations, 32 bodies have been recovered from the landslide site, while efforts continue to locate one more missing person.
The landslide, which occurred on August 3 in Shovi, resulted in human casualties and caused significant destruction to cottages, houses, roads, and bridges. Georgian geologists estimate that around five million cubic meters of earth descended from the mountains in just a few minutes.
