Georgia Completely Halts Car Deliveries from Armenia to Russia
Georgia has definitively stopped car deliveries to Russia. The ban also pertains to vehicles transported from Armenia.
Official Tbilisi imposed restrictions on the export of American cars with engines of 1.9 liters and above, as well as hybrid and electric vehicles, starting August 1. It was expected that a similar ban would come into effect from September 26.
However, sources interviewed by VPost indicate that border guards are already preventing vehicles from entering Russia at the Upper Lars crossing, according to Kommersant.
It has been noted that Georgia has started to create difficulties even before August 1, hence the timelines do not always align with the implementation of specific measures. This situation has persisted for the past two to three months.
Sources from Kommersant also mention that after Tbilisi's restrictions, vehicles will be imported through countries such as Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan. Moreover, the Georgian ban will not affect prices.
