Istanbul Has Only Two Months of Water Supply Left, Media Reports
Istanbul's reservoirs have only two months' worth of water supply remaining, according to reports by NTV Haber. It is noted that if the drought continues, the situation will become critical.
As per data from the Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI), the current filling degree of reservoirs stands at 33.37%, which is over 289 million cubic meters. In the last two weeks, the city has consumed between 3 and 3.5 million cubic meters of water daily.
“The city has a water supply for 91 days, but considering that 25% is lost to evaporation, the reserves will only last for 61 days,” the website reports.
According to authorities, the water level has decreased by more than 4% over the past two weeks. Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has called on citizens via social media to conserve water.
