Russia, Turkey, and Qatar to Sign New Grain Deal

Russia, Turkey, and Qatar to Sign New Grain Deal

In Budapest, it is possible that Russia, Turkey, and Qatar will sign a new grain deal. This is reported by the German outlet Bild.

According to the report, Russia, Turkey, and Qatar are "currently drafting a trilateral agreement to replace the expired contract." The Russian side will be represented by Rustam Minnikhanov, the head of Tatarstan.

Bild has learned about the new agreement from official correspondence between the foreign ministries and embassies of Russia and Turkey, which was accessible from July 21 to August 8.

According to the new agreement, Russian grain is to be supplied to impoverished countries, primarily in Africa. Ankara is interested in having grain supplied from Ukraine, which is why Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has requested that Russia return to the previous agreement.

As part of the drafted deal, Turkey will act as the organizer of Russian grain supplies to Africa, while Qatar will serve as their sponsor. Ankara is also proposing to implement the new agreement under the auspices of the United Nations.
