American Controversial Host Jerry Springer Has Died

Television host Jerry Springer has passed away. This is reported by Interfax.

He was 79 years old and died after a brief illness.

Springer's controversial show was the beginning of the so-called "tabloid talk show" genre. AP reminds that the "Jerry Springer Show," featuring ordinary Americans discussing household issues, hurling insults and swearing at each other, and sometimes even throwing chairs, enjoyed high ratings while drawing critical opinions.

The show aired for 27 years, from 1991 to 2018, and at one point surpassed Oprah Winfrey's show in ratings.

Several episodes from the late 1990s were released on VHS but never aired on U.S. television due to their extremely scandalous content.
