What Real Estate Have Citizens of Azerbaijan and Turkey Acquired in Armenia

Citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan are acquiring real estate in Armenia. This information was officially provided by the Armenian Cadastre Committee in response to a written inquiry from Factinfo.

Specifically, Factinfo requested information regarding the properties acquired by foreign citizens, including those from Azerbaijan and Turkey, in Armenia from 2018 to 2023.

The Cadastre Committee noted in its response that no properties had been acquired in Armenia by legal entities from the Republic of Turkey or the Republic of Azerbaijan. In any case, there are no real estate properties registered under the names of legal entities.

Instead, individuals who are citizens of Turkey and Azerbaijan have started to acquire properties in Armenia. The Cadastre Committee informed that during the period from 2018 to 2022, Turkish citizens acquired a total of 46 properties in Armenia, of which 40 were apartments, 2 were residential houses, 3 were commercial properties, and 1 was land. Out of the apartments, 7 were purchased in 2018, 12 in 2019, 2 in 2020, 8 in 2021, and 11 in 2022. The 2 residential houses and 3 commercial properties were acquired in 2019. One land plot acquired in the same year was sold in 2021.

In addition to Turkish citizens, it turns out that citizens of Azerbaijan have also purchased properties in Armenia during the period from 2018 to 2023, albeit in smaller numbers. Thus, Azerbaijani citizens acquired a total of 3 apartments, 1 residential house, and 1 commercial space from 2018 to 2022. The apartments were purchased in 2018, 2019, and 2022, the residential house in 2022, and the commercial space in 2019.
