Son Cuts Mother's Neck: What is Known About the Horrific Incident at a Yerevan Hotel

A woman’s neck was slashed in one of Yerevan's hotels yesterday, with reports suggesting that the suspect is her son. Armlur.am has provided details about the horrifying incident.

Khachatur Khachatryan, an employee at the 'Kafl Family' hotel located at 92 Sevkaretzi Sako, informed law enforcement that a woman and a man arrived, identifying themselves as mother and son, and checked into the hotel.

Shortly afterward, sounds of a struggle were heard from their room. Upon closer inspection, authorities found the woman bloodied and severely beaten. Law enforcement rushed to the scene and determined that the son, Vahe Verdyan, had slashed his mother, Armenuhi Petrosyan's neck, with a knife.

After the incident, Vahe Verdyan attempted to escape by jumping out of the hotel window, injuring his legs in the process. Meanwhile, the mother was transported to the '1st University Hospital' in critical condition.

It is reported by shamshyan.com that at around 14:50, the emergency medical team alerted the police upon discovering the critically injured woman in a room at the 'Lux Castle' hotel complex, located at the same address.

Before the police arrived, the medical personnel provided first aid to the woman, after which she was taken to the hospital with a critical diagnosis.

At the scene, police officers, along with patrolling agents, apprehended a young man who sustained bodily injuries and transported him to the 1st University Hospital. In the courtyard of the hotel complex, where there was access to the building, officers found a knife with apparent blood stains, which, according to initial information, could be the weapon used in the crime.

Inside room 415 on the fourth floor, numerous blood-like traces were found on the bed and the floor. Several citizens present at the scene, who refused to speak on camera, stated: 'The one taken to the hospital in the patrol car is the one who committed the crime, having slashed the woman's neck with the knife he had, but he didn’t manage to escape.'
