Defections Observed Throughout the Entire 44-Day War, Says Andranik Kocharyan
Defections were observed throughout the entire 44-day war. This is a result of the fact that we not only did not have our reserve forces in a combat-ready state, but we did not have them at all. This was stated by Andranik Kocharyan, the Chairman of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee, during a broadcast on Public Television.
“After the imposition of martial law, when we started sending notices indiscriminately, our military registration offices did not have the data to call up professionals specifically. This led to both defections and losses. The number of defectors is recorded as either 11,000 or 12,000 in the investigative bodies. The quantitative indicators of treason have been regularly reported by the National Security Service. During the 44 days, there was indifference in all manifestations,” said Kocharyan.
