Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Calls Armenian-Iranian Union a 'Threat': Reports
“Today’s Iranian-Armenian brotherhood poses a threat to the entire region,” stated Ayhan Hacizade, head of the press service of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to Azerbaijani media.
This comment was made in response to remarks by Nasser Kanani, the official representative of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who indicated that Azerbaijani authorities should explain their “anti-Iranian cooperation” with Israel.
Hacizade claimed that in recent times, alleged threats have been voiced from Iran towards Azerbaijan, and “provocations have been allowed.” Among these, the representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry pointed out the assassination attempt on Azerbaijani parliament member Fazil Mustafa, asserting that the traces of the assassination attempt “lead to Iran.”
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry representative remarked that the comments made by Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen about forming a “united front against Iran” regarding Azerbaijan-Israel cooperation were further evidence that Israel seeks to turn Azerbaijani territory into a national security threat for Tehran.
