Your Insolence Will Not Go Unanswered: Alen Simonian on Yesterday's Incident

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, has responded on his Facebook page regarding the incident that took place yesterday in the center of Yerevan.

According to him, Canada-Armenian Karen Mkrtchyan has approached and insulted him before. He stated, “...I ignored it the first time a month ago, the second time I naturally opposed his freedom of speech and insults with my opinion about him, my freedom; then he went live on Facebook and recounted what happened.”

In his post, he also denied the information that he has 30-40 security staff. “And it will always be like that; it is natural that people are not beaten in public restrooms like the Dashnaktsutyun member Poghos Poghosyan for saying ‘hello Rob,’ or that people are not attacked in corridors as was the case during Serzh's time. Our parliamentarians do not have the security guards of the Republican Party that one might think they can hit and then run long, and it is natural that I do not have 30-40 security staff. But let it be known to your ears that your insolence will not go unanswered; there will be a legal response to insulting the lawful authority of the Republic of Armenia,” he declared.

It should be noted that Canada-Armenian Karen Mkrtchyan reported during a Facebook live broadcast yesterday that Alen Simonian “spit in his face” at the Cascade.
