Russia Ready to Organize Meeting Between Lavrov and Blinken at UN: Nebenzya
Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has announced that Russia is prepared to organize a meeting between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during Lavrov's visit to the UN headquarters on April 24-25. He made this statement at a press conference, as reported by TASS.
“I believe that if such a meeting is required, the minister will be ready to meet with the Secretary of State,” he said.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry's website reported that a telephone conversation had taken place at the initiative of US Secretary of State Antony Blinken with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. It was noted that the politicians discussed the arrest of Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich in Russia.
The Wall Street Journal has called for the release of its correspondent Evan Gershkovich, who was detained in Russia on espionage charges. The publication describes Gershkovich's arrest as a “harsh insult” against him. It also mentions that Gershkovich “loves” Russia very much.
