Military Officer Had Submitted Resignation Two Weeks Before Fire Incident: What Happened?
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that significant details are emerging from the criminal proceedings regarding the soldiers who lost their lives in a fire that occurred in the village of Azat on January 19.
According to the information we have received, two weeks before the tragic event, officer E. H. wrote a report indicating his desire to resign from service. What prompted him to take this step after inspections by military police at the unit? What actually happened inside the barracks? We hope to find answers to these questions during the investigation when the officer speaks.
It is noteworthy that Armlur.am reported that the officer's defense attorney has been involved in the case concerning the incident that led to the death of 15 soldiers. Investigators from the Armenian Investigative Committee have summoned the officer for questioning once again, but he has refused to provide testimony. It should be noted that the officer had previously given verbal statements, indicating that he had poured gasoline to intensify the fire, believes he is guilty, and that he could be prosecuted. However, he has, on the second occasion, declined to provide testimony, even in the presence of his defense attorney.
