Modern Equipment Acquired for House Arrest Implementation
The Ministry of Justice has acquired electronic monitoring equipment and relevant software for the implementation of house arrest and administrative supervision measures, as stipulated by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, which came into effect on January 1, 2023. This information has been reported by the press service of the ministry.
The equipment will operate within mobile communication coverage, enabling its use throughout the entire territory of Armenia. The electronic monitoring devices will be attached to the wrists or ankles of the accused, allowing the Probation Service, responsible for ensuring the implementation of house arrest and administrative supervision measures, to monitor the individual's movements and immediately record any violations, even in the event of slight movement, and take necessary actions to clarify the circumstances of the violation.
To facilitate the operation of the electronic monitoring system, a special room has been equipped with the necessary technical equipment at the central body of the Probation Service. Additionally, 30 employees of the Probation Service have undergone training courses for the operation of the aforementioned equipment, which will be of a continuous nature.
