800 Passengers of Viking Orion Cruise Ship Stranded at Sea for a Week

In Australia, microorganisms have taken the passengers of a cruise ship hostage. Passengers aboard the 'Viking Orion,' which departed from Wellington, New Zealand, at the end of December, have been stranded in the open ocean for over a week, despite the ship's scheduled visits to several ports.

Neither New Zealand nor Australian ports have allowed the ship to dock due to the accumulation of 'biofouling'—microorganisms, plants, and fungi on the ship's hull.

The tourists, most of whom are Americans, are extremely dissatisfied with the situation, while the cruise organizers are doing everything they can to prevent a scandal from erupting.
