Azerbaijani Blockade Impact: Askeran Shops Struggle to Meet Residents' Needs, Says Apresyan

The head of the Askeran regional administration, Hamlet Apresyan, addressed the situation resulting from the closure of the Stepanakert-Goris interstate road for 16 days, noting that while villages in the Askeran region, engaged in agriculture, currently have sufficient vegetables and fruits, a shortage is already being felt in the regional center.

“In Askeran, we are facing issues with sugar, vegetables, and fruits. There is no grain. Tobacco and hygiene products are nearing the point of depletion. The available goods continue to be sold at previous prices. Shops are still managing to meet demands, but if this continues for a prolonged period, the situation will become more difficult,” Apresyan stated in an interview with Artsakhpress.

He emphasized that the residents of Askeran are willingly accepting the idea of transitioning to a savings mode.
