Erdogan to Attempt Talks with Putin and Zelensky Again
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that he will soon hold telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"I saw that Mr. Putin is much more conciliatory and open to negotiations with Kiev than before. We will see what this can lead to during the telephone diplomacy that we will undertake in the coming days, listening to both leaders," Erdogan told journalists on his return from Azerbaijan while on the plane.
Previously, Putin had stated at a meeting of the Russian Security Council that the Kiev regime had refused to negotiate, continuing to shell Russian territories using terrorist methods. A few days later, Putin emphasized that Kiev had made a decision to prohibit negotiations with Russia, saying, "What can we talk about then?".
At the beginning of October, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov noted that against the backdrop of Kiev's refusal to engage in dialogue, there is no possibility for any agreements regarding Ukraine, as negotiations require both sides. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Russia "is not chasing after anyone" in the context of negotiations regarding Ukraine and will only discuss serious proposals.
