Armenia's Security is Iran's Security: Amir Abdollahian
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has announced that official Tehran considers Armenia's security to be essential to the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the region.
As reported by mehrnews.com, he stated this during a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
Amir-Abdollahian expressed his joy at witnessing the reopening of the Iranian Consulate General in Kapan during this visit, noting that this development is another sign of the deep historical ties between Iran and Armenia.
According to the Iranian minister, they have clearly stated their stance on any geopolitical changes regarding borders in the Caucasus region. He added, “The military conflicts between Azerbaijan and Armenia have raised concerns in the region. The Caucasus is a sensitive area. We believe that serious attention must be paid to the principle of respecting the territorial integrity of countries in the Caucasus region. We are pleased that relations between Tehran and Yerevan are on the right track and making progress. Armenia's security is considered the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the region. We have clearly stated our concerns regarding any actions that lead to the presence of foreign forces in the region.”
