Pashinyan's Remarks at the Narrow Composition Meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council

The global economy is going through challenging times. Trade, industrial, and logistics connections, which had only recently begun to recover after the pandemic, are now facing new shocks. During his welcoming speech at the narrow composition meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held in Yerevan, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed these issues.

“The fundamental principles of the global economic system are under question. In the current unstable economic conditions, there is no doubt about the demand for periodic dialogue at a high level and its relevance for more systematic and coordinated cooperation. Understanding mutual interests and the willingness for compromise and cooperation can be the key to solving many issues. In this context, I literally emphasize the daily work within the EAEU framework to respond to emerging problems at all levels and develop coordinated measures,” Pashinyan said.

The narrow composition meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council commenced in Yerevan on October 20. To participate in the meeting, leaders from several countries arrived in Armenia, including Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, Kazakh Prime Minister Alihan Smaiylov, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akilbek Japarov, and Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich.

In both narrow and expanded format meetings, agenda items relating to the development of integration processes in the Eurasian region will be discussed. Special attention will be given to the digital agenda, particularly the prospects for developing and improving the Union's information system, and the creation of a unified analytical system for managing electronic trade in goods. The formation of agreements regarding the common gas market, as well as the oil and petroleum product markets, will also be discussed. Outcomes will include the signing of decisions aimed at furthering the development of Eurasian economic integration.
