New Details on the Bloody Incident in Aparan: 'Iravunk'

The newspaper 'Iravunk' reports: On June 25, the relatives of those killed and injured in the shooting incident in Aparan organized a protest demanding responsibility from the Deputy Governor of Aragatsotn, Edgar Parvanyan, his cousin Roman Parvanyan, his niece Karlen Garibyan, the ruling party MP Matevos Asatryan, and his nephew known in Aparan as 'Grzo'.

The protesters believe that they have a direct connection to the committed crime. They claim that the MP's brother was present at the gas station owned by Deputy Governor Edgar Parvanyan on the day of the altercation.

According to the relatives, the day after the conflict, Roman Parvanyan, who is known as a 'problem solver' in Aparan, called all participants of the incident for clarification at the gas station.

In an effort to clarify the relatives' claims, we first approached ruling party MP Matevos Asatryan, who avoided discussing the details, stating only:
– I assert that neither I nor any of my relatives are connected to the preceding or subsequent questions regarding the incident.

– It is said that your brother deleted the recordings from the gas station that day.
– It’s a gas station; we can all be there. Moreover, the footage exists. The investigative body will publish it, and you will see that there was no brawl, especially not involving my brother.
– Have you tried to meet with the relatives of the deceased?
– I had a great desire to attend the boys’ funeral, but I was advised that my presence would further inflame their grief; some time is needed for everything to come to the surface. I assure you, we are not guilty in this tragedy.

Deputy Governor Edgar Parvanyan also did not wish to elaborate, explaining:
– First, let me clarify that this is not about my brother. One of my relatives was a witness to the incident, who is in the custody of law enforcement and has not fled or avoided stating what he saw. Furthermore, you can get information from the investigative bodies.
– Mr. Parvanyan, protesters demanded that your relatives leave Aparan.
– These are emotional statements; no one can tell us such a thing. Everything is directed; the investigative committee will provide answers upon completion of the investigation.
– Have you attempted to meet with the relatives of the deceased?
– Of course, let’s not go into details; let’s be patient; let the investigation conclude, and everything will become clear. Everyone will receive their deserved punishment. And those who actually incited all this, I am confident, will face not only criminal liability but also public condemnation. That is all I can say for now.
