Mass Fuel Theft Begins in Finland Amid Price Hikes
Amid rising prices in Finland, there has been a surge in mass fuel thefts. According to Finnish YLE, this phenomenon is a result of anti-Russian sanctions that have led to increased fuel prices. Ordinary Finnish citizens are reportedly stealing gasoline and diesel as a response.
"Typically, fuel is stolen from large construction sites, as well as from agricultural or forestry operations," reads the publication. The article also mentions incidents of gasoline theft from trucks and refrigerated storage facilities. Furthermore, some enterprising Finns are reselling the stolen fuel.
