The Russian Ministry of Justice has registered chess player and political figure Garry Kasparov, along with former YUKOS head Mikhail Khodorkovsky, as foreign agents. They have been included in the list of individuals operating under foreign agent status, according to the ministry's website.

“Khodorkovsky Mikhail Borisovich, Kasparov Garry Kimovich,” is noted in the Ministry of Justice's registry of physical persons recognized as foreign agents.
