Two Fellow Soldiers Arrested in Connection with Soldier's Death

The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has unveiled the circumstances surrounding the death of conscript soldier Argishti Armeni Yegyan, who died while on duty.

On May 11, 2022, at approximately 10:15 AM, Argishti Armeni Yegyan, a private and assistant to the sniper-grenadier of the N military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, allegedly shot himself in the chest with his service weapon while on duty at a combat position observation point.

On May 12, 2022, two fellow soldiers were arrested on suspicion of violating Article 360.1, parts 1, 2, and 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, as well as part 2, points 1 and 3 of the same article. The investigation is ongoing.
