Tragic Incident in Lori Region: TV Presenter Retrieved from Debed River Has Died

A tragic incident occurred recently in the Lori region. At around 16:40, the 911 emergency management center received a call reporting that a citizen had fallen into the Debed River.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, citizens and rescuers pulled an unconscious young woman from the Debed River adjacent to the Sanahin station in Alaverdi. She was transported by ambulance to the Alaverdi Medical Center, where shortly after, police from the Tumanyan division were informed that she had died without regaining consciousness.

According to G. Shamshyan, the deceased was Arpine Jagharyan, the host of the program “My Suitcase and I” aired on Shant TV. The Tumanyan police are preparing materials regarding the incident. It is possible that the investigation department of the Lori regional investigative division of the Armenian Investigative Committee will conduct an inquiry into the incident.

The beloved presenter was reportedly filming on a boat with her colleagues when the tragedy occurred. Reinforced service was carried out on site by the traffic police of Lori region, led by the battalion commander Karen Bezzhanyan, the platoon commander Viktor Sargsyan, and the commander of the 4th squad of the same platoon, Mntatzakan Boyajyan. Officers Gor Hovhannisyan, Davit Yerznkyan, Hovik Vanetsyan, and Karapet Harutyunyan also performed reinforced service at the scene, clearing a path for rescuers and Tumanyan police to move freely and ensuring that curious citizens did not create obstructions.
