Major Car Accident in Gegharkunik Region: Vehicle Crashes into Gas Pipeline and Metal Barrier

On May 5, a major car accident occurred in the Gegharkunik region. At around 15:00, 33-year-old Hakob Zakaryan, a resident of Gegharkunik, lost control of his Opel vehicle on the 65.5 km stretch of the Yerevan-Ijevan highway while heading towards Dilijan. His car veered off the road, crashing into metal barriers and a gas pipeline, and ultimately became lodged in a metal barrier.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, driver H. Zakaryan sustained injuries and was transported to the 'Sevan' medical center. Emergency responders arrived promptly, including officers from the 4th platoon of the 2nd battalion of the traffic police, led by platoon commander Edgar Suslyan and squad commander Vahe Voskanian.

The scene was managed by senior investigator Bakur Saribekyan of the same platoon, who is preparing materials regarding the incident.
