Godfather Commits Violent Sexual Acts Against 9-Year-Old Girl

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has reported a case in the Gegharkunik region regarding a 59-year-old man who has committed violent sexual acts against a 9-year-old girl, who is his goddaughter.

During the preliminary investigation, significant details emerged about the incident that occurred when the man was alone with the child in an apartment on July 24, 2021. He exploited her vulnerability, as she did not understand the nature of sexual acts and was unable to resist due to her innocent state. Furthermore, the man took advantage of the child’s trust and, driven by distorted sexual desires, attempted to commit acts against her. However, his criminal intentions were interrupted when the child’s uncle’s wife entered the room.

As a result of sufficient evidence gathering, the man has been charged under the second part of Article 139, Section 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. He has been detained as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation is complete, and the case has been sent to the supervising prosecutor with a motion to confirm the indictment and forward it to the court.
