Mother of Former Official's Child Killed in Georgia: Woman Claimed Official Deceived Her and Took Child

A Russian woman, Anastasia Shatalova, has been killed in Georgia. The information was reported by Sputnik Georgia, citing local media sources.

An unidentified assailant shot the young woman in the Saburtalo area. Shatalova was fired upon as she stepped out of her home at 1 AM, with a witness reporting hearing seven shots.

Shatalova, who moved from Khabarovsk to Georgia a few years ago, had been embroiled in a dispute with a former deputy mayor of Batumi regarding her underage child, which she had demanded be returned to her.

Previously, Shatalova had shared details of her argument with Beridze in interviews with various media outlets. She stated that Beridze had promised to marry her, which led her to move from Tbilisi to Batumi, eventually having a child with him.

Later, Shatalova discovered that Beridze was already married and had two other children. He refused to divorce his wife. The woman also recounted that shortly afterwards, Beridze underwent brain surgery, after which he became extremely aggressive and jealous.

The couple had broken up and reconciled multiple times. After one reconciliation, Beridze took the child to his home for a few days with Shatalova's permission and never returned him to her. Since then, the child has been raised by Beridze's wife. To regain custody of her child, the young woman hired a lawyer, to which Beridze responded by accusing her of prostitution and stealing gold. The child is now about two years old.

Regarding the recent events, according to media reports, law enforcement officials are currently at the residence of the former deputy mayor of Batumi. Georgian media outlets state that the woman was killed near her temporary residence in Tbilisi. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has opened a criminal case under the article for “premeditated murder.”
